These are currently all of my thoughts about grad school. It doesn't help that I'm in Chicago and I don't really know anyone besides the people in my program. Not counting the guys who hit on me on the street, I haven't met anyone. Just a huge "booo" all the way around.

There's nothing like explaining to people that there are rules and structure to AAVE*. People might not realize it, even if they use it themselves. My favorite example of AAVE in a Ling. lecture was the revelation that "been" was used to denote a certain period of passed time.
