Yep. They’d already established Franklin was fiercely loyal to his friends even if it was to his own detriment. They probably could’ve turned it into a compelling story, but it was clear the 2 alternate endings were quickly thrown together with little thought or planning.

Trevor’s death could be plausible, but Franklin’s betrayal of Michael was a complete reversal of everything that had been established about him to that point.

I heard that there was apparently a 4-hour cut of the movie before it got trimmed down to its final run time. I’d imagine the longer cut probably fleshed out Killmonger’s reign more. Rushing through that part is probably my biggest knock against the movie, but even that is minor.

DC’s movies are largely flailing right now because they’ve been being rushed out the door half-assed just to make some money at the expense of quality and long-term planning. All those movies you mentioned could’ve been really good if they’d been handled far better.

Exactly. Almost every possible story has already been written. Unless it can be shown that there are exact passages or exact scenes lifted, I do not believe a story concept alone is copyrightable.
