I think it will definitely pick up a bit once they integrate actual battling with other trainers and not just the semi-AI battles at gyms.

Something like this could be pretty cool. Being able to look up at buildings around your town and seeing kaiju coming out from behind them could be really neat.

That’s why most games tend to have multiple difficulty settings. Games without typically tend to scale difficulty as you progress.
