Re-reading Stephen King's The Dead Zone for book club. His female characters were pretty flat back then, but the writing is pretty tight. He hadn't yet started with the coked-up verbosity that plagued so many of the books he wrote in the 80s.

Star Whores: I've Got A Bad Feeling About This

No, no, no. Colbert's whole schtick is his persona, which he has painstakingly cultivated. He would have to abandon that persona if he moved to CBS, which would make him much less compelling to watch. Give me Tina Fey or someone not named Jerry Seinfeld.

By all that is good and right in the Universe, don't let this end up on Syfy. Because then every episode will end with a montage of the characters looking forlorn while some no-name band covers "Hallelujah".

Sesame Street….masters of the double entendre.

Just give me Final Sacrifice and Soultaker and I'll be a happy guy.

+1 on The Current. The Current and Radio K (the University of Minnesota college radio station) are beacons of hope in the desolate wasteland that is commercial radio. The Current DJs are quite knowledgeable about a variety of genres and they have lots of great in-studio performances.

Well, fuck. First SGU and now this. Do the suits at Syfy even care about getting critical buzz anymore? Because they keep canceling any show that rises above the quality of Mega-Python 2.

They'd better add Frisky Dingo. You don't want to give Killface another excuse to fling the Earth into the Sun.

No love for the new Star Wars book? I thought Wood's take on the Battle of Yavin's psychological toll was nicely done and the artwork has an eye-catching cinematic look. Plus, Leia flies an X-wing!

This. This so much. I couldn't stop rolling my eyes during the silly ending on another planet. In the book, Meronym's people die and Zachry barely escapes to another island. And the Somni story totally did away with the notion that she was completely used by the corpocracy.

Finally, a studio that will treat Star Wars with the nuance and maturity it deserves.

I'm happy to see I'm not the only person who is blown away by Cartwright's portrayal of Gary. Hollywood can be really clueless when it comes to writing characters with disabilities. That's why it was such an unexpected pleasure to see Gary portrayed with such nuance and humor. Kudos to both Cartwright and the writers.

Hey, somebody else remembers The 4400! I really enjoyed that show and was bummed when it got cancelled, particularly because the last season was going to some interesting places. I wonder if Alphas will give us the revolution that The 4400 promised.

This news prompted me to post my first AV comment. Also, there is no God.
