No offense but you are REALLY stretching to find something to complain about. Using blood to summon demons or make armor more powerful is pretty much an anime staple going back to at least Devilman, if not further.

I swear people on Kotaku do not read comments before posting a reply. Where did I say initial figures are worse than later? That is certainly not true. I said they aren't a good representation of what comes later, or what the robots look like in the associated show.

The early toys in a new line aren't always a good representation of the movie or what later figures in the line will look like. I'll wait until I see more to judge.

For some reason I get a mid 90s CD-ROM adventure game vibe from this like Journeyman.

Nier is fantastic in gameplay and story and is part of the universe. I'd start there, and if the bug catches you, you might want to check out the others. The gameplay in the first one is pretty horrible saved only by the story and is really dated. The second one is much better in terms of gameplay, in my opinion.
