I think it's just that it was the best game that fell into the shooter genre. Not the game that best exemplified the shooter genre, necessarily. Or the game that had the best shooting mechanics.

What would you choose then? The garbage Call of Duty Ghosts? Or the largely unplayable Battlefield 4?
