Yeah, I was scrolling down this conversation and thinking I identify most with Louis while wishing I could be like Janine (in the first movie)—which probably explains a lot of the problems in my life.

For me the moment of the whole Olympics was Mao Asada's free skate—it was so fucking perfect and emotional. And to do that after her disastrous performance last night was amazing.
Additionally, here's something I know because I was once obsessed with Pacey and watched every single episode of Dawson's Creek—Greg Berlanti was a writer on DC and I think he was even the head writer on Season 4 and most of season 3, writing many scenes of the Flash giving fatherly advice to Dawson. I believe he was…
It's bullshit. I remember watching the diving in London when all the top divers were from China and the nbc coverage kept showing the Americans who were in like 13th and 17th place—and every now and again they'd show a dive from the top five divers. It was crazy.
This is really nice—I was googling nbc and different news sites yesterday to find a good schedule and there wasn't anything useful. This is so much better.
Some of my favorite episodes of DW are the ones like Crimson Horror or The Unicorn and the Wasp—really funny but also surprisingly touching in the end.
That's such a good scene. There are about three or four great scenes buried in the misery of those two episodes.
Both Martha and Mickey were supposed to have really big parts in Torchwood Children of Earth—I think we were going to see them fight that alien and begin to fall in love. Because both actors' availability meant that they couldn't do TW, RTD decided to show what he had in mind for those two characters in The End of…
I always liked Mickey and Jackie so much more than Rose in the first 2 series (and especially in series 2). They were both such sad, but noble, people in a way—always so aware of their limitations but trying so hard to help Rose and the Doctor. I know a lot of people don't like "Love and Monsters" but I love the…
I did a DW rewatch recently and while there were many episodes that I liked better the second time—these two weren't among them. They still suck. They do have a few good Mickey scenes—but the rest is pointless.
I've actually read these two books because Persephone Books reprinted them a few years ago in one volume. The two books are hugely different in tone and most readers only like the first one—which is a sort of comic romance. The second book is ridiculous and not fun at all. I don't know why anyone would adapt both…
I wish that TH/Byrne had released a soundtrack with the song versions from the movie because I like John Goodman's version of People like us so much.
I kind of agree with CG. That movie (and Grant's character) is on 10 nonstop and things are just so crazy that it sort of falls apart. Peter Lorre is great in that, though.
Yeah, I was surprised the reviewer didn't mention Topper because this was arguably the film that led to his sophisticated, funny persona (it was right before The Awful Truth).
Wasn't James Bond basically an homage to Cary Grant in the first place? I thought Ian Fleming wrote him with Cary Grant in mind (I could be wrong about this)
My favorite thing about HGF is that Walter Burns is basically a horrible human being but he's also the best romantic lead character of all time. Romantic movies in the past few decades make the plot about a woman's influence "improving" a man (he stops being a womanizer and realizes monogamy is the best) or something…
He also wakes himself up specifically when Moriarty mentions that Sherlock has information that John needs—no one else knows at that point about Mary being a nutter. It's less about "I need to get to my true love John" and more about "John needs my help because his wife may be a psycho and I don't let John Watson…
I think we've got to supply the plastic surgery thing ourselves to make it make sense (Sherlock did say she'd changed her accent so I assume she changed her appearance, too).
Yeah, I've never gotten the love people have for Blink. It's fun but it doesn't tie into the ongoing story or the characters of DW. It's like a short story stuck in the middle of a long novel.
They really need to find more for him to do in S4. I want some kind of Molly/Lestrade romance hinted at where everything is made even more awkward because of Sherlock.
