Hey, guy? It's okay to be wrong sometimes. You didn't know that a writer at The Verge spoke directly with Apple about Mountain Lion. You thought what we were looking at was basically final. Apple says its not. There's nothing else to debate. You were wrong. Life goes on.

I don't recall ever waiting long, since it's a credit card refund. A day, maybe two? I mean, honestly, when you're paying, at most, $10, it's not like you sit around watching your account.

There is no time limit in the App Store for how long you can wait before requesting a refund. As long as your reason is legitimate, Apple will grant it, with almost no questions asked (again, as long as your reason is legit).

Why would the size of the icon double? Remember, the resolution is increasing irrespective of the screen size. The screen is still 9.7 inches wide.

"Apple says" tends to mean, in journalist parlance, that they are quoting an unnamed Apple employee. So when "Apple says it's still tweaking a lot of the language and controls around Gatekeeper," it means, you know, they're still working on it.

Software on tablets doesn't sell without hardware, so your comment still strikes me as strange. Unless Microsoft intends on making their own hardware, even their best Windows 8 effort could fail.

The patent is for a method of auto detection. It is not possible for Apple to patent auto detection as a concept. They can only come up with a new method to achieve the general goal. This patent is for that method.
