When I had the cooling issues, I just ran straight water since it was summer, and was purging the system over and over, but yeah, the cooling is a weak point for the XJs.
I used to have an 87 XJ with cooling issues. I replaced almost every component trying to chase it down, and it turns out air was getting into the system via a slightly cracked ($3) flushing tee. At least I had a new radiator, thermostat, coolant reservoir, lines, clamps, water pump, and flushing tee!

Burning hydrogen in an internal combustion engine/boiler/etc isn’t the way. Fuel cell technology in a hydrogen-electric generator is the way. The problem will be heavy metal supply chains for the batteries, and of course, storing/transporting the hydrogen. These problems are solvable, and would unlock greater leaps…
