Fassbender was amazing in a bad film and I cannot believe that anyone who saw Di Caprio’s performance would find him unworthy, there would have to be something else in play there. Michael B was good and he’ll have a long career with nominations, I just didn’t believe for this performance.

Will Smith was the only omission for me. I didn’t feel that Michael B or Chiewetal turned in Oscar level performances.
It’s breathtakingly beautiful. I refused to watch it on a screener because I knew how much effort went into filming with 3 hours of light a day. It truly changes everything to see it as it was made to be seen.
Because there’s only 5 slots in a year of a lot of great movies.
Because Stallone was excellent. Chiewetal in the Martian? Not sure I noticed him at all. Will smith in Concussion, that’s a real omission. Movie wasn’t up to it but he was wonderful. Also let’s remember that Stallone created Rocky to begin with and I love the symmetry that he is once again nominated for that charactor…
