Semi off topic but, I read a lot of Ask A Manager and whenever there’s a question where someone was treated so terribly they’re refusing to return to work the comment section is almost perfectly divided on how an apology should be handled. It’s like 50% say “contact the employee and apologize, I would be enraged if

I know a woman who named her son Bodhi. She’s a yoga teacher so like ... of course she did.

OH MY GOD THAT PICTURE, WHY?

Who would go there to buy Ivanka’s crap?

That top picture is vomit inducing. NYC is one of the great shopping destinations of the world. Who would go there to buy Ivanka’s crap?

This guy tells you to save for your kid’s college before you max out retirement? That’s...opposite everything else I’ve ever read. You never gain back that time to earn compound interest.

I read a story about a couple that was able to pay off their student loans because they moved out of the condo one of their set of parents had given them. They moved back in with parents, and then rented out the gifted condo and used that towards the loan payback. I don’t think I’ve ever rolled my eyes so hard.

There is literally nothing about our criminal justice system, which is admittedly fucked, nor known about the recidivism rate of sex offenders to suggest that he will. More than 75% of people in prison end up back there within five years of getting out. It is not a rehabilitation treatment nor a deterrent.

Because playing sports is a privilege not a right.

I also seriously doubt he would put himself in the same kind of situation again.

He DIDN’T PUT HIMSELF IN ANY SITUATION. But if you’re thinking he won’t rape again, everything that’s known about sexual predators says you’re dead wrong, moron.

I suppose it does depend on the nature of the crime. A violent crime like rape—no, you shouldn’t be able to participate in a sport. Your second chance is you go to school, you take your classes, and hopefully you get a job when you get out.

I think the part that rankles here is that he used football and his status in the initial case to try to squirm free of consequences. When it’s clearly part of the weapons he used against the girl and her advocates, I think it’s not just the privilege to move on we’re talking about.

Hopefully not. Many victims recover from rape and have happy fulfilling lives.

His victim will serve a life sentence of depression and anxiety.

A lot of these stories also have really unrealistic housing situations. Sorry, I’m not moving to a house with 8 others in exchange for a 2 hour commute. The cost of time/sanity outweigh the desire to be debt free.

or even $60 a week.

The “how” part of the story usually boils down to a unique or obvious circumstance: their parents gave them a large sum of money, they came up with a genius business idea that took off, or they have a job that already pays six figures and then just used that money to pay off their debt.

Like most things when it comes to success, I find that advice from failures is usually better than advice from success. Hearing about staying thin, by someone who’s never been fat, is more annoying than useful, and I’d much rather discuss weightloss with people who have struggled with it, and dealt with issues along
