Sure, there’s huge investments in solar but it remains a drop in the bucket; even with the worlds largest installed capacity, it’ll only generate <1% of China’s electricity. Even in Germany, which has one of the largest relative installed capacity of solar, solar accounts for <7% of electricity.

Iceland gets 75% of its electricity from hydro and nearly all of the rest from geothermal.

Like which countries?

The Tesla, while a safe car can hardly be called the safest car ever made when it gets beaten by a number of cars on Euro NCAP crash testing and hasn’t even been tested by the IIHS yet.

Yet when configuring a Tesla vehicle today, the most visible price is the price after government credits AND hypothetical gas savings?

“Plus, when someone calls Tesla and says their car is making a weird noise,”

You have it the wrong way, Tesla and its Gigafactory needs so much raw materials that it’s utterly dependent on the miners because it’ll go bankrupt otherwise. But even if Tesla goes bankrupt, there’s enough battery demand that the miners have plenty of buyers.

It’s a very safe car but it hasn’t demolished safety standards; it got beat by a number of cars in Euro NCAP and it hasn’t been tested with IIHS.

They pay for it when they go do their regular maintenance from the service centers and pay for it in their insurance when insurance companies realize how expensive it is to replace a part or repair the car.

If you’re American, try getting access to the manuals:

What are you talking about?

Tesla makes it very hard to work on their cars. You’ll probably not be able to biy any of their parts or get access to the computer systems needed to interface with the car. And if you don’t live in Massachusets, you can’t even get access to their manuals.

Someone picking up a car for service was/is one of the selling features for Lexus. Sometimes, even mainstream marques dealerships located on the outskirts of a larger city will offer that to get more customers from the city.

There’s no plan that covers that transportation cost for service.

In the NHTSA safety tests, Not getting 5 stars in everything is the exception.

Except Teslas are so unreliable they end up at the shop far more than a typical vehicle.

Looking at the various Bjornd Nyland supercharging videos, 0-80% in 30 minutes is very optimistic. With the 85 kWh battery, it’s more like 0-60%.
