You're right. Anybody can accuse Ortiz. But what makes this news-worthy is that Shaughnessy, because he's a Globe reporter, is actually getting answers.

Shaughnessy is a journalist (whether you like him or not is beside the point). He sees something fishy, it's his job to ask questions. Hell, the reason baseball was damn near ruined in the 90s is because practically ZERO journalists did their job. They acted like fans — in love with the long ball.
