hey i'm genuinely not trying to be hyperbolic, that's really what happens in the show. did you watch the episode? i admit i didn't keep a log or anything but i'm pretty sure it's raised by a character in every single scene.

yeah it was weirdly great. i tuned in after many weeks off to hear how awkward it would be. i think jimmy found the funny by making her whole entourage a part of the show, especially when it seemed clear that they weren't paying any attention at all and had no idea who he was

How Did This Get Made built to an enormously satisfying concluding revelation this week.

every single person in new york knows about it! and asks about it! from the ADA to the rikers guard, everyone knows who john is and that he has a skin condition. and they all are absolutely compelled to ask him about it rudely.

yeah i hadn't even thought of the regional connection, that's a good point. harmon's humor seems a little sharper/meaner than classic mst3k (not in a bad way), but he's great at pulling references and riffing off almost nothing. feel like he could really thrive on this show.

dan harmon seems like a very good fit for this, glad he's writing

they've been best friends since high school. on one episode they actually showed home videos of themselves making terrible comedy sketches at the age of like 16. their laughs are annoying and yes they do it constantly, they're like the tv version of Car Talk. but their friendship is really sweet in my opinion.

i completely agree with you, fellow achewood-avatar. i laugh out loud at this show more than anything else on television, and have for years. it's lowbrow and people can poopoo it on that basis, but you're missing out.

    *quietly*

    do you even ranch bro?

speaking as a jewish person, "pro-israel" and anti-semitism are not at all mutually exclusive. john hagee being an apt example of someone who has it both ways. but i'm no alex jones scholar, and not inclined to turn into one, so i don't really know what his views are.

    i mean you're not wrong

oh my goodness does he ever. saw him slinging it on twitter today, actually. just google 'alex jones cuck' if you want to see for yourself. he loves that shit. as for the overt racism, you should just click through on some of his .com links from that search and decide from there. he does predate 4chan of course, but

the screaming she can deal with, i just always seem to end up showing her an episode where his genitals get mutilated or he eats part of a person

i think most jokes are 'pointless' by that standard, but yeah, totally don't disagree with you. just seemed like the writeup and a lot of the comments were missing the satirical element, wanted to get that out there.

i love his show, my wife can't even get through the opening credits roll though

just posted this, you beat me to it but i didn't see your comment in time. Andre is a smart dude and I think this is obviously what he's doing.

i feel like AV Club and a lot of commenters are missing Andre's joke, which i actually think is pretty smart. he's not just trying to shock people with the 'have sex with my wife' thing, he's turning Jones' and the alt-right's favorite talking point around on them. they gibber constantly about "cuckoldry" and "cucks,"

we need them to keep our spirits up and cheer us on. it's up to the rest of us to confront this hatred in public, with decency and a commitment to the pluralism that has defined this country at better moments. no edward murrow is coming down from the clouds to do that for us.

if he didn't already exist he would be a fantastic eric andre show character
