As a former high-school female cheerleader back in the 70's, I can confirm that splits are:

1. Something you need to work your muscles into over a period of time

I’ve torn ligments in both my knees and it is so painful you can’t even imagine. The worst part of it is that it lasts forever. You can get surgery and scar tissue can form but it’s never the same afterwards. I have to wear a leg brace just to get through a long day at work sometimes, and during all physical activity.

There are so many other ways to train for flexibility into splits and oversplits. This is just cruel and looks more like team hazing.

What the fuck did I just watch. I was a cheerleader in the 80s, when people barely cared about safety and we never would’ve pushed someone into the splits any more than we would’ve intentionally dislocated their joints. That’s not how the fucking splits work!!!

I am not clicking that video.

I think it’s fitting that this involves Lena Dunham.

You can’t make a horror story out of Trump’s election that is worse than what is actually happening. I’m supposed to give a shit about some rich white lady who is afraid of clowns? Thanks, but I’m sticking to the horror stories of families who are living in fear of being torn apart and deported, for starters.

I did math in my undergrad. Both male and female students judged the female math students that wore make up. I did not wear make up because I was lazy and honestly I also had no interest in it. But I had some fights with some classmates that were alsodear friends about this. My main point was always: why do you judge

Zadie Smith’s comments irritated me. I can’t disagree that complicated contouring seems like a waste of time for everyday wear for me, but the dismissive tone of it all rubbed me the wrong way. Saying to your daughter, “You must leave for school by 7:50, so I suggest you learn to get ready to leave for school in 50

I’ll have you know I waste time in myriad ways-putting crap on my face is just one of them, and it’s nowhere close to being the most frivolous.

Also, they could have shot Charisma Carpenter to hide her belly. They do it ALL the time in TV. Sarah Jessica Parker, comes to mind. She’s half naked all the time in SATC but when she was pregnant they shot her so she always had a coat on or something was blocking the view from her stomach or she was sitting down

I don’t hate him and I can still enjoy his work, but he’s not a feminist.

THIS. Anyone paying attention has been side-eyeing Whedon AT LEAST since Avengers 2 and probably since Charisma Carpenter “left” Angel.

Most self-described male feminists are really just clever pick-up artists. Sometimes it’s not just about sex but some pathetic, child-like need to receive attention from women. Whedon always gave off that vibe in his Twitter account and in the interviews he gave. He was very similar to Hugo Swyzer, saying all the

Oh that speech, that was certainly wtf, especially all the feminists in the room applauding it.

Also, he fired Charisma Carpenter for getting pregnant after years of working for him.

I never finished that speech where he said he didn’t like the way the word feminist sounds. I think I watched the first 5 min of that and was completely turned off listening to him speak ever again.

Can I just ask was anyone really surprised that Whedon wasn’t the feminist hero he was turned into?

I can’t even imagine the headaches that come up running a fansite. People get so entitled about it and so passionate about the work that it leads to fights. Just reading some of the comments there is kind of a nightmare. But they also get so attached to those sites that you feel bad removing them.

This case upsets me on so many levels. I feel for the victim Payton Leutner, because not only did she have to recover from being brutally stabbed, she is going to have lasting psychological trauma. I really have no idea how she is going to be able to form relationships and trust people, when two people she thought
