I thought these places (dealerships included) average the amount of time it takes to complete a job and then charge based on that average.... Like they take 100 mechanics and figure out how long it takes them to do a job and then average out the hours and that is how they charge the hours to customers and not how long…

That seems .... Dangerous to say the least. So these (not registered) midwives - do they need any form of training or literally anyone can say they are a midwife without any kind of actual background? And people actually hire them knowing this?

If they had to ask this question it makes me wonder if/how they will successfully raise a child

I'm not sure where you live but in Ontario, Canada midwifery is highly regulated and all of what you just said is not true.
