plus everyone is assuming he did it without permission! This girls going to be on Ellen next week and get her 15 minutes of fame, and even if not, I don't think kids are so cruel they would doom her for the rest of her life.

he could have asked her for permission before posting that! We don't really know. I agree with what you are saying though!!!

I think maybe she looks like she's trying too hard and just can't pull it off. Go ahead and look like a weirdo a la Tilda, Bjork, Gwen, Gaga ... You have to have the confidence to pull it off and not give a fuck. She just looks like she is trying to not give a fuck but it's escaping her. Additionally she's not

I would probably wear that.

I guess there is a difference between dictating what students have to learn/how to think and teaching them to be critical thinkers. Maybe North America focuses too much on the former - plus all the tv and distractions prevents us from having valuable experiences that would force us to problem solve on our own.

"eradicated in the wild" the best

that's so handy!!!! It's great they give them breakfast as well. There are some before school daycares but usually you have to drop the kids off at one and then they have to bus to the school later. No situation will work out perfectly for all families anyway! It's good they have some services in place to make it

wow and that must make for a long day for both of you! Is 8am a standard time to start work?

I think because parents see it like, it's their job to keep their kids HAPPY. but in reality it's to keep their kids healthy, nurtured and educated. Our friends have (and I hate to say it) terrible kids but it's completely their own fault because they never discipline them and they don't give them any freedom to

same with me! I remember being up allll night as a teen and then when I finally started to sleep properly (probably around 20) I was so tired all the time! I'm usually in bed by 9:30-10 and read until 11 but fuck when my alarm goes off at 7:15 I never want to open my eyes!!

and what time to parents start work at??? 8:30 or 9:00 or is it more typically in these areas for work to start earlier in the morning? Doesn't it cost more for child care - if your child goes to school so early in the morning I can only assume that they need to be babysat before you come home from work???

yeah most of the schools in my area start between 8:40am and 9:00am and end between 3 - 3:30. Maybe it's because we have harsh winters and it gives them time to clean the roads in the morning (kids often don't go to school because snow days - varying on the winter, I can remember having up to 10 days off yay!). But

What ?!?!?

And how awkward and sheltered of a life has she had that none of her friends have been wait staff of any kind - maybe then she'd learn to have some empathy

and it's one thing for sports - one of the local high schools in my area took away honour roll (anyone with over 80%) recognition because it was hurting other students feelings!

yes and I think "milestone awards" (like attendance) should be differentiated from winning awArds due to actually being good at stuff.

well there are certain divisions for sports. Basically all kids suck at sports until their a bit older, when divisions start dividing them up.

I noticed similar behaviour when I was in Italy a few years ago (in the smaller towns) - when a toddler was out, everyone was their friend!

yes and some children are taught to only respect their parents because of this. For example, we have a great public park across the street, but when we tell kids to behave (umm there is a three year old, maybe you shouldn't say slut so much right now) we get yelled at because we aren't the parents! I was always taught

but the us also has a larger population to draw taxes from, and of course more people who can implement the social policies!
