Simply put, no.

Oh for sure, I know this and sometime do it in particular with more expensive stuff. That said I kind of like cooking to zone out and don’t want to be trying to remember how many tablespoons are in a quarter cup etc etc etc. When recipes are by weight or in metric I am far more likely to do this.

I feel the living alone struggle there. Most recipes, especially dinner ones which is the main meal I cook, feed 4-5 people. Its either feel ok eating something several times in several different ways over the next 3-4 days or waste a ton of food and money. I end up making a lot of random leftover meat sandwiches,

2001 Nissan Xterra hands down.  The electrical system was a mess. The power window openers had some kind of design flaw in them, I had to replace all four over a few years, one of them failing in the down position during a road trip from NY to CO in Chicago, going down I-80 with the drivers window down in a

So for me I don’t think that this is a way to save everything, this with compost is how you get to that. I prep the veggies slightly prior to tossing into the bag, I trim the top of the carrot off that is too muddy, I peel or wash the carrots, etc.  Even if the things are a bit past prime they should still be things

I keep one veggie and one meat scrap stock bag. When they get close to full I make one or two batches of insta pot stock and then freeze it in two and four cup reusable containers. Can’t recommend doing this enough as it is a great way to have high quality stock on hand, fully use the veggies neglected in your fridge

I actually like having a movie or show on in the background that I know really well, one where you can look up randomly at any point and know what is going on while you kill five min waiting for that next step.  I tend to get pretty focused while actually chopping, kneading etc so I don’t notice music really well

This is the best thing ever, kudos Julia

The theory is similar, more things that don’t have that spice, it’s all about dilution by adding volume so more beans, ground beef, onions etc. Another option that does not work in the context of all dishes is adding dairy in some fashion as casein in dairy works to break capsaicin bonds to the nerve receptors in your

Please for the love of all things holy, sharpen your knives.  While this is a wack as hell a sharp knife would make this less terrifying to me.

For a long road trip, sunflower seeds are the GOAT.

Thanks for stealing 30min of my day...

Not exactly a hack or anything, but ditch your regular knife block and get a magnetic one.  Not only is it nice to see your knives, especially if you have good ones, you will make your knives stay sharper longer.

Hmmmm, is this the early April fools day joke????

My dad. He has memory issues and gets distracted easily. He has also even before this had some really weird habits that he thinks make him more safe but I think very much do not. He pretty much exclusively drives in the right lane on the highway, typically 5-10mph below the speed limit and also will use the shoulder

This incredible rice porridge. It has chicken in it but you could take that out and it would still be incredible.

Hmmm I think Marnie sneaks out the win, I was firmly Lillian until the bread bowl disaster.

My drivers ed class/school was great, I’ve rarely had as much fun driving as I did in that school. The class was an all weekend thing, day one was classroom stuff, day two was driving on their closed course. It was awesome, since it was closed on private property they actually let you drive through the course yourself

No, that said it didn’t feel like it could not have escalated at a different time of day or place. Had I walked into a bar in that town at night with a mask I think that I would have been assaulted inside five minutes.

Umm your experience will vary I think, I live in Omaha and have driven to Denver a couple times in the pandemic. In the bigger towns/cities Omaha, Lincoln, Denver etc you usually have OK mask wearing and it’s culturally normal. The smaller the town and the more rural you will start to really stick out, some just look
