From David Roth (on The Baffler), August 2017:
Wonder if over on Splinter they’ll have another article calling Chuck and Nancy a couple of spineless sellouts for laying an offer on the table.
She had a talk show for about three months when Hallmark tried to revamp its morning lineup around Martha. It was kinda entertaining in a trainwreck way because she had a “best friend” co-host who she seemed to barely tolerate. They were going for an opposites attract vibe but it could have a cold bitter edge. Alexis…
Hahahaha! Yes!
At least it is a “from scratch” cookbook, even if it has horrors like aspic and jello salads. I have another BC cookbook I got in the late 80s when I moved to SF and had nothing. This one is TERRIBLE, with loads of recipes that are “a can of this, a can of that, Bisquick, blah blah” for busy working moms trying to…
When we moved into our current house, my partner was concerned at the sagging floor, crumbling grout, and lack of cooling - but I had to live there because in the kitchen, there is floor to ceiling spice shelving behind the kitchen door. My dad started me on classic Hollywood films and I love being able to share these stories with him. I loved Karina’s thoughtful measured responses to your questions. She’s not looking to sensationalize, distort, or create soundbytes; she’s a real scholar. So refreshing today.
I have followed Karina since the beginning of her podcast because we have a mutual friend who told me about her episodes on silent film. I love her take on early Hollywood. She has a unique voice and a great way of telling a story. I highly recommend her entire podcast. Many hours of interesting cultural analysis!
I haven’t read this yet but I’M SO FREAKING HERE FOR THIS INTERVIEW. I love You Must Remember This and Karina Longworth so much. Okay, off to read now.
Basically.
Nonetheless, he has remained a beloved fixture of pop culture...
How cool is it that a real artist decided to make a real life version from the painting in Bojack’s office?
And people wonder why her interviews have a defensive tone.
