Omg same. And also my aunt is holding on to all kinds of stuff related to my grandmother (her mother), to whom I was really close until her death when I was still in elementary. She pretends she doesn’t have the pictures and other mementos whenever anyone asks. She’s in her late 70s now, so when she’s gone, I’m

OOoh yay! I hope you enjoy. It opens at Christmastime, so that’s fun!

omg, I feel you here. Similar story, add in a theft of a storage facility and make your stepmother’s Christmas aesthetic Always Nutcrackers. I can’t be bothered with a tree, most years. Too much emotional mehhh.

That would be immodest.

Oh! I do think I remember hearing about this.

Three months. That’s short, even by trainwreck standards.

Tell me more, tell me more

Yes! Have you read Honk and Holler Opening Soon? Just as amazing, maybe better.

AHHH I love this cookbook. My grandma and mom had it in their kitchens. There’s some tasty, buttery stuff in there.

That’s a very even-handed perspective, especially about the era when news sources were reliable.

May I ask, how do you deal with your older mom’s politics and social media stuff? My mom is in her 70s and just can’t stop with the memes and all of this Fox News/Glenn Beck (and worse) stuff. How do you manage your relationship? It’s such a struggle for me.

I’m so excited to see all these other YMRT and Karina fans. Her show is my go-to podcast. I have a background in media studies and looooove digging into old Hollywood, particularly in contextualizing What Came Before in terms of What’s Happening Now.

Wow, that last line.

I’m drinking the latte right now and Clio is right: subtle. Sometimes I get a slight Tanqueray feeling, mingled with coffee. Which is odd, but I like it.

Well done.

Driving around and around and around...

In grad school, I read a piece of scholarship and had a course discussion on how men vs women react to SJP. It was very interesting how much men need to denigrate her face while women tend to embrace her (although there’s definitely a “cool girl” contingent that def needs to join in the denigration).

That’s good to hear. Maybe I’ll give it a shot. The bakers are really who you fall in love with, in the end.
