I was wondering that, too.
You’re right, sister!
I miss Field’s. It’s still weird to me to see Frango Mints for sale in Macy’s.
Yes! It’s SO hard to reconcile. She was a feminist and social liberal, but now can’t seem to extend any compassion to anyone that isn’t exactly like her (white, pseudo-Christian). Even though she’s really struggling financially and takes whatever assistance she can get and won’t work (!!!), the poor are lazy.
My mom, too. I’d hoped when she and her rabid tea party husband split, she might soften a bit away from his influence.
Oh, that’s an incredible book. Thanks for sharing that passage.
Yes! I said this upthread, but this movie is just more cashing in on her rough life. 1/10 wouldn’t see it.
YES.
I’m turning into a ranting crank, too. Cranks Unite!
Hello! What’s the deal with her work ethic? She seems busy?
Oh god
Yeah, she suffers from what a lot of people in American seem to be afflicted with: and utter lack of compassion or understanding of the needs of anyone who isn’t her.
Way too close to home. I guess she’s okay with killing me? Hard to say.
Oh I love Anne Helen Peterson. Thank you for this!
Yeah, that was one hard. I thought it was important to talk about the cross-race effect and racism.
Exactly, exactly. The cot thing was so weird. And I don’t know if you listen to the podcast? But she responded to the overwhelmingly puzzled response pretty defensively.
I think she’s super smart and literary and uniquely articulate. But agree she’s a bit young yet to give advice on things so far from her life…
I am with you! Forever in the grays and too old and/or childless for most of the internet. High five!
Yes! Thank you! You hit the nail on the head, especially about the leftie thing.
Can we please??
