There seem to be at least two very opposed camps with regard to this. The Season 6 arc stuff alienated many viewers, who found all the byzantine plotting arid and soulless.

He reminded me a little of the dead guy on Lexx. Kai.

Season 7 already dialed it back from the convoluted River-Song-arc craziness of season 6… at least until the final run up to the 50th anniversary special and the Christmas special.

That dude in the cantina scene with his eyes on a curved-up upper lip?

There were actually several of those arcs over the course of the show's run. They were operas, with songs. The operas were always tremendously bizarre.

He probably wouldn't mind.
