I really don't know how meaningful of a comparison it is to even say that Android is "seriously gaining momentum" when iOS is actively on like 2 phones where as Android is on what. 20? More? It looks like a great gaming device.....but there just aren't enough people at this point to want a portable device that ONLY does games well. I just don't see this thing doing too well.

The game is very CPU dependent, period. I've run it totally fine for years now but yes....you need a solid CPU.
