The Ecoboost has been in the f150 since 2011, so far they are holding up fine. I’ve personally driven some with over 160k miles on the clock. Can you find some that have replaced turbos or had other issues? Sure. There are well over a million Ecoboost powered f150s on the road. I’d be shocked if you didnt.

They are being compared due to the similar power outputs. A TT v8 would put out much more power than Ford benchmarked for the Raptor. The new 3.5 Ecoboost (this is a new engine going in the 2017 f150 and Raptor) is putting out more power in the 2017 Raptor and more torque (at much lower RPMs) than the outgoing 6.2.

As a purely road going vehicle jeeps are quite reliable. I believe the “unreliability” comes from non jeepers seeing them being constatly being “worked on” by their friends that own them and use them off road. Frequent off roading shortens the life of many parts that road only vehicles may never need to replace, or

Wranglers are some of the best vehicles out there for retained value.

Its human nature, people will always overstate sales and understate purchases. Your friend that brags about a price or payment is likely neglecting to mention a trade with equity or cash down. Your neighbor that just sold his house got less for it than he’s telling you. I like to call it “creative rounding".

There hasn’t been Jeep motor that makes peak torque at or below 2k rpm since they stopped using the 4.2 in 1990. The 4.0's best torque peak was at 3200 rpm, 3.8 at 4k, and the pentastar at 4800! A DI gas turbo 4 cyl would have the best torque curve of any wrangler engine in the last 26 years.

No, they don’t.

Google it? Should JD Power and other research firms stop bothering with reliability surveys because a simple Google search is more statistically accurate? Obviously Carguy27 that posted about his brother’s sister’s cousin’s former roommate who knows a guy that blew up a turbo on a Ecoboost is a much better source of

Yeah, because no jalopnik “favored” make would ever make up a gimmick brand name for a collection of established technologies. *cough*Skyactiv*cough*

Correction- 3.0L v6 TT making 400 HP.

The Fusion is also getting the same CCD suspension system that let the heavier and less powerful 2013 MKZ out perform a BMW M5 on a slalom, although it was on performance tires that weren’t actually available on the MKZ.

No one is buying the Equus. Cadillac sold almost ten times as many of the CTS last year, and more in previous years. Hell, almost everyone here would call the Lincoln MKS a sales disaster, yet it more than doubles Equus sales. Although it has received many tweaks over the years, the MKS has still gone without a major

She’s also had a Corvette and a Harley.

The sell them to people who think anything Honda makes is the best product on the planet. In recent years they’ve been “fortunate” enough to crack 0.7% market share in the truck segment. In the final year of its production the Honda Element had almost the same share of the small SUV market, and they axed it.

There is no justification for the Ridgeline. Arguing that its lesser capability is “okay for what most use truck for” might be a valid argument if it was less expensive or better on fuel than a more capable truck, but it is not. The Ridgeline is an appropriate truck for someone who absolutely wants to buy a Honda

And how is Cadillac doing against MB and BMW in sales? I will help you out:

I didn’t realize the ES was now on a different “tarted up Toyota” FWD platform.

So what’s sets Lexus ES apart? It was top in sales in mid size luxury last year, followed by MB E class, and then BMW 5 series. The Lincoln MKZ finished in 4th place (with a 3 year old design) and a refresh model right around the corner.

I hate to sound like a stereotypical toddler, but why? Do people who actually buy cars in this segment actually care about platform sharing? Or do they care more about quality of materials, fit and finish, comfort in ride, adequate power and performance, a design style that appeals to them?

Can you give an example of why the new models are not competitive?
