Solid Snake is basically identical to Big Boss. They made it clearer when Solid Snake's face was altered a bit again after MGS2, exactly how Big Boss looked in MGS3.

Why can't I praise narratives with interesting themes AND question the subjectively stupid choices on aesthetics and style? I do that with MGS alllll the time.

Playing a bit through the game now, I can agree with those sentiments. I still kind of feel like I should have bought MG Revengeance over this, but I'm definitely not disappointed with the NG3RE...
