When you say "most ridiculous" you mean, most charming, righhht? Because to me, the ridiculousness of the series is what makes me get into the games. I just laugh my ass off even when it tries to be serious at times... which is a good thing in my book.

There definitely was a lot more effort and detail put into the older animation as well as a certain charm to it. Though that goes for many if not all anime/animated series these days.
