Kinda hard to imagine any mob killing someone who they didn't think deserved killing. There are a lot of possible "evils" these individuals could have been "guilty" of: mental illness, religious non-conformism, nonstandard sexuality, foreignness, or just pissing off someone in power. I'm really hoping the mutilations…

Great article. I've seen a pdf of an English language version of 'Ruwan Bagaja' - the writing is a little flat, but it's an interesting story. The storytelling parrots of 'Magana Jari Ce' sound like fun, but I'm guessing its not easily available.
