I'm not so much sure that the target audience would 'get it'; I'm just pretty sure that's the advertising agency's rationale & intention. Like you, I sure hope it works! It's an unforgettable and innovative approach - it's sticking in my mind!

I think the leers being subtle was strategic and quite clever - if they were open "dirty old man" type leers, the target audience wouldn't have identified with the issue and the ad would have been a waste of time ... It's because they're normal "smallscale leers" that they would make the average gazer feel embarassed…
