There’s a long history of fabrics being worn in hair in Europe that goes back at least to the 17th century. Threads and string were woven into hair in China from the 14th century.

Yarn braids is raver and or goth. I think it’s (well dated), but for some it’s creative. It’s impossible to get uv reactive hair to truly last and usually plastic and decorations get added to the additional volume and mass.
