Nice memorial, thanks. RIP Kazuhisa Hashimoto. Thanks for giving me a chance to practice in those games.

eh, I mean, why make one movie best movie and best foreign movie? It is ... well kinda duh?
Would have been great if they had considered one of the other foreign movies for that category (although their nomination choice is weird as hell).

HOLY SHIT. Not only is a foreign language film winning Best Picture unprecedented... it won Best Picture AND Best Foreign Language Film!?

I played the first episode years ago, and liked it so much that I decided to wait and play the whole thing once it was out. Now, it looks like I’m going to happily buy it again on Switch because there are few games I’d imagine work better in portable form than ones like this.

I just checked my order receipt - I bought the game from Humble almost 6 years ago now! Hopefully I remember my login information when this comes out (though I’m going to buy it again for Switch anyway, who am I kidding)

Control has been real good if occasionally really frustrating with some of the fights. I’m hoping solving the Eternal Fire puzzle will help with a little of that as I try to clear the last mission.

No one will ever catch up on their backlogs. Realize this and be free.

Superbad was perfect. It’s going to be very, very difficult to top that. It also happened to come out when I was in high school so I may be biased.

Anyone else feel like they no longer give a damn about cinematic trailers? I either want to see game play or in-engine shenanigans. I just get bored by these cinematic trailers that really give us no sense of the game itself.

To be fair, Nemesis isn’t quite as ever present as he might seem, but it definitely does depend on how much time you spend between objectives. If I recall correctly (and I have been looking for some documentation of the logic but haven’t seen it anywhere yet), Nemesis can basically appear due to one of two scenarios:

This sucks, I personally liked their minimalistic site more than the cluttered heavy mess of Metacritic. The fact that they focused specifically on games helps too. Metacritic is like ign, and feels at times like it’s everything but games and makes me question why did I even load the site in the first place.

Been a regular on the site from the beginning. Will miss it terribly. Loved looking at the lists of best and worst games of each console generation and each individual console. Guess I'll have to watch some loudmouth idiot drunkenly playing games on Twitch instead. Modern times. Yay.

I still use Gamerankings. This sucks.

I’ll miss Gamerankings. I believe review aggregates have value they just shouldn’t be the end all be all and practices such as having bonuses tied to them isn’t a good idea. Metacritic is not a good replacement for Gamerankings, they take half of the amount of info and manage to spread it out into three times the

Dammit, Romero. You should have seen this coming. You could have stopped this. We’re all doomed!

Given the potential implications of successfully developing a general AI... I’m just saying it won’t be the first doom he’s produced, you know?

Skyrim was a refined Oblivion it wasn’t that “Important” in the grand scheme of things. The Soulsborne games revolutionized game design and proved difficulty wasn’t a toxic element. Dark Souls changed gaming for the better Skyrim... didn’t.

That’s a tough one. I think they are both hugely influential. Souls would get my vote too though because it’s really the start of a new offshoot of a genre. How many games are described as “Souls-like” now? From 3d to 2d, it’s had a huge impact on the decade that followed. Skyrim is a continuation of a trend that

It’s not just about audience reach though; Dark Souls has been incredibly influential to the artform at large.

I say it every time: there should be MUCH more severe punishments for doing this shit. Especially given that the cops might just kill you - sometimes while standing outside your house.
