If Lord/Miller had directed THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, this exchange would be unnecessary.

Except Warners hired a director of a small indie drama about a female serial killer to direct a big dumb movie about a superhero fighting Germans in World War I.

Your argument is that Lord/Miller know more about making good movies than the director of STAR WARS, AMERICAN GRAFFITI, and THX 1138?

I don't. I'm sure Kasdan is right.

Why would they applaud for Howard if he wasn't even there to hear it?

Hard to believe the guy who wrote BODY HEAT, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, THE BIG CHILL, and SILVERADO didn't mesh with the geniuses behind THE LEGO MOVIE and 22 JUMP STREET.

Bad chop suey

"He could have chosen female-centric scripts to begin with rather than **assuming** that only male-driven scripts could be of interest."

I understand your point. It just has no relationship to the question I was asking.

You believe Paramount would have bankrolled a big-budget action-adventure period piece about a female archaeologist in 1980?

Dern isn't a co-lead in JURASSIC PARK? I haven't seen it in awhile, but I'd like to watch it with a stopwatch and see if she has as much screen time as the maie leads.

Question: I wonder which Spielberg pictures you believe he should have cast differently.

That…still doesn't answer my question. At all. Not even in the same hemisphere. But it brings up an interesting new question. Are you arguing that the most successful filmmaker in the history of Earth makes inept choices about the subjects about which he creates art?

I saw all your posts. None answers the question I asked.

I wonder which Spielberg pictures you believe he should have cast differently.

Or CATCH ME IF YOU CAN.

I wonder how he would have put a female lead in LINCOLN, THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN, AMISTAD, BRIDGE OF SPIES, MUNICH, SCHINDLER'S LIST, or SAVING PRIVATE RYAN.

First among equals in an ensemble cast with name actors in a relatively low-budget horror movie.

That was 13 years later with a director who was not in his 20s and a third sequel in a monster established hit franchise.

Does she really believe Universal would have greenlit JAWS with Lorraine Gary as Brody? Is she so clueless about the industry in which she works that she thinks Paramount in 1980 would have invested $15 million in RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK with Sigourney Weaver as Indiana Jones?
