THE AVENGERS was a risk? It may well be the least risky film ever made. There was no way it wasn't going to make a zillion dollars. And the author's evidence of its riskiness is its "pure comic-book storytelling." Huh? Hit films have been using pure comic book storytelling for years. Ever hear of, say, STAR WARS?
No. Except Smith, all the acting is bad.
"Spirit in the Sky" is the hackiest song you could put in a movie soundtrack. Any director using that song is lazy and uninspired.

I've seen multiplex audiences watch movies with the sound accidentally off, with the wrong aspect ratio, with the reels accidentally in the wrong order. Multiplex audiences are stupid.
