@jepzilla: Your whole point is flawed on the sole basis that lower-end chips are not actually handicapped on purpose but are lower production yields. That is, with physical faults that makes disabling cores and/or threads necessary for proper function of the chip.
@ninja_togo: I doubt Intel will sell you what is (more) expensive silicone to them for cheap. They probably sell them at normal OEM prices to Gateway and then they pocket the 50 extra bucks from you for a silicone that you already paid at full price ;)
