No authentication company is ever 100% perfect becuse it’s not an exact science. It sucks they got burned this time but it happens. It won’t really affect them at all because everyone in the collectables world understands this.

BCE didnt really authenticate anything. They just verified that, in their opinion, the box had not been tampered with. Just like Paul and everyone else, they had no idea what was actually in it

That has been around for a long time. You could do it with the PS4 (and Xbox as well). 

Seems way easier to just make sure to suspend your returnal run than manually update everything all the time.
