Scalpers are scum but don’t let the internet outrage fool you. They are a very very small % of sales. Sony has shipped 4.5 million PS5's so far. Probably less than 1% went to scalpers.

Stores absolutely care. The consoles are a loss leader. They want you buying other higher margin stuff (hey while you are on our site why not grab a game, or a controller, or a pack of socks etc etc) and creating return customers (if you sign up for our credit card you can save 10%!). I can’t say this has been a problem for me. Its pretty easy to see which is the PS4 version and which is the PS5 version. They are pretty clearly labeled. I don't get why this is a problem.
