They race in simulators because it’s part of their job. Not really the same thing.

The problem isn’t “skill” the problem is giving a fuck. When you race actual cars at 180+mph agaisnt other people and are legitimately risking you health/life every second, its kind of hard to care about a racing game that much. Even the F1 guys are only semi serious in their virtual races.

Me and my friends played this so much in university I bet I would still twitch if you played the sound of the farsight near me.

Yep, VC is a goddamn nightmare. I have been playing siege since the original beta and I can count on one hand the amount of times I have voice chat turned on when playing with randoms. Fuck that shit. If im not playing with friends it’s perma muted.

The “problems” with siege are vastly overblown. Its not perfect, no game is. But the reality is that its better now than it ever has been and it is one of the best games in terms of releasing new content and devs that actually give a shit about fixing the things that are problems and communication with the community. 

This was my first thought as well. It will be interesting to see how many people will actually *pay* to listen to him. I get the impression a large portion of his popularity is due to it being freely available everywhere (including video format on YouTube).

I guess it depends on how you define “succesful” but i have a hard time saying Joe Rogan will go down in the same way as someone like Phil Hartman or Dave Foley.

Seige makes A TON of money. Last I saw it was well over $1 billion in revenue for its 4 year lifespan. It is unquestionably a very valuable IP. There is more to a game than just the genre it’s in. SB and avg are very narrow stats. I’m not going to accuse you of cherry picking and beat you over the head with stats but If you take a broader look it is a much different story. For his career he was a below avg hitter and there are a few years where he was downright awful.
