Hmmm ... while I want to believe that people had varying takes on this movie (consistent with the Newsweek headline) my lived-in experience was definitely different. I was a senior in high school when this came out and my recollection is that everyone in my orbit viewed D-FENS unequivocally as the hero. I remember

Plenty of news sources are doing better work than the AVClub on this topic - surpise!

There’s a link to the video in this very article for you to research. The fact that you didn’t report on your findings makes me think that you don’t really care whether there’s any sort of context that makes “get the hell away from Black people” non-racist; you’re just trying to sow doubt to defend your guy.

“How come nobody has considered that he meant ‘I would advise white people to stay away from black people’ in a non racist way?”

They linked the video in question, if you’re curious, or doubt the article. Once confirmed as hate speech, nothing is gained by repeating hate speech in full.

Based on the pull quotes, I don’t think there’s some magical context that will make the braindead cartoonist’s virulent racism somehow lessened or explainable. Especially considering that we have a storied history of the braindead cartoonist being a right-wing shitheel.

“You gotta admit, Deep Space 9 was way better than Voyager, Kate.”

What they need to round it out? A van, two good looking companions and a talking dog.

Harbour wouldn’t have said this if it wasn’t already ending.

I sincerely hope the Stranger Things spin-off is Maya Hawke and the stoner pizza dude delivering pizzas and getting into weird adventures. Make it a monster-of-the-week and Im there.

Shut up and eat your plumb pudding.

Also, didn’t they already announce that season 5 would be the end of Stranger Things?

If Cardi were still drugging and robbing men, yes, that would be worth a mention.

Bizarre take, because there’s nothing wrong with being a prostitute

And yet, The Hobbit Thrillogy “jazzed” you?

Also a version of Kang has already been introduced in the MCU (on Loki) so not sure what this review is even talking about.

I watched a ton of Nick at Night as a kid in the 90s. Taxi and Cheers (which was syndicated all over the place) were absolutely my jam.

Train? Automobile!?

Avenue 1,2 and 3 were destroyed by terrorist during construction.  Avenue 4 disappeared.   But it really got sent back in time to be used in the previous Shadow War.

Thanks for this info.
