Darry (Justin Long) and his sister Trish drive past an old church and spot the Creeper throwing a body wrapped in a bloody sheet down a large pipe. The Creeper looks up and sees them passing in their car, and he quickly takes off after them in his truck and soon runs them off the road and continues driving. As they

The thing I always remember about the James Bond bit was when the Queen (this time a body double) parachuted out of the helicopter and Bob Costas seemed to genuinely think it was the actual Queen

That’s just bull shit. Every good thing that has ever happened was because someone complained. I can vote because women before me bitched about not being able to vote. I can wear pants in public for the same damn reason. Complaining is GOOD.

Ooh, tell us your story about surviving in this business as a young woman with sufficiently thick skin!

I’m sure your long and illustrious career as an actor qualifies you to make this statement.

Oh right, the problem isn’t the misogynistic trolls, the problem is that she COMPLAINED about misogynistic trolls. What women used to know but modern women have forgotten is that they’re supposed to keep their mouths shut when boys are being boys. Why, misogyny and abuse will simply vanish once women stop talking

Oh yeah if she gets better at ??? she’ll stop getting harassed. That makes sense.

The Force Awakens was the one that confused me, because the world fuckin’ loved it, but other than being fine with the new characters, the whole thing to me felt like just a theme park ride version of the original trilogy.  Just rush from thing to thing, do it all again, joke about how you’re doing the same shit again

I mean, TFA was the first SW movie in ten years, it was always going to do bigger box office than whatever the followup was (especially since TLJ came out only two years later and there had been another SW movie released between the two).

I suspect they will. The show did incredibly well. All that Gaiman said was that it’s not a guarantee, which is always true, and a good way to make sure people keep watching.

Because it would have fucked up the narrative flow of the season. Releasing it this way actually draws more attention to it anyway. Instead of one episode buried amongst 10 others, it gets to be a special event.

I particularly loved the same joke being told down the centuries, and the constancy of a pub-bore banging on about the unemployed.

I already saw a documentary about the greatest beer run ever...

Which makes the fact that, even in his big redemptive moment, Jimmy makes it clear that the Great and Mighty Heisenberg was actually, for the most part, haplessly out of his depth and would have wound up dead in a ditch or in a jail cell if not for Saul Goodman. One last little fuck you to Walter, it seems.

Indeed. I think it’s telling, too, that Jimmy remembers how even Walt had his number (“So you were always like this.”).

Oh, could be. By “take Walt’s side on everything” I was thinking more of how much shit Skyler (and Anna Gunn) seemed to always get from some of the more toxic members of the fandom.

If it helps, I think plenty of people really liked The Last Jedi (including me!). Unfortunately, the people who didn’t are louder, and have successfully overshadowed any question of whether it’s good with a reputation as being poisonous no matter what.

Yep, I was one of apparently five people who really liked The Last Jedi and thought it brought some fresh and interesting ideas to the Star Wars mythos. In fact, after The Last Jedi I was actually excited to see what sort of follow-through those ideas would get in The Force Awakens....And we all remember how that

Correct! Donna’s speech at the end of the series (the one by the pool) was perhaps the most female-empowering performance I have ever seen on network television. Such a great show. Shame too few people saw it.

HACF is the most underrated TV show of the 2010s and it’s truly great. It’s no longer on Netflix but if you have AMC+ I highly recommend checking it out.
