Never in my life would I have guessed that Matthew Broderick would age into Nathan Lane, but there it is.

Yeah, I came to the comments to chide the reviewer for that specifically. Oliver contacted Mel for advice on how to handle Matthew and learned too late that Matt is not to be asked for ideas (in short, “You’re fucked”) and Saloni missed that?

No mention of Mel Brooks?

I just want to see an announcement that they are bringing back the iPOD touch.

I don’t think Martin Short is that funny, but I would never waste anyone’s time lambasting him. I certainly wouldn’t publicly do so in long form if I was a writer for a reasonably well known media company, even if I was completely out of ideas for what to write about. Not only would it be boring and unnecessary, it’s

I hadn’t heard about the Short piece, so I had to look it up. What a weird article. It’s literally just a long editorial about how this one writer doesn’t think that Martin Short is funny. I’m not surprised that everyone leapt to his defense. It’s the most random hit piece I’ve ever read. But yeah, you make a good

What We Do In The Shadows is on regular FX. All of FX, FXX and Freeform’s programming is on Hulu the next day.

The loss of those second rate cable channels probably won’t hurt Spectrum that much. Once Archer is over in the next few months, the only original programming left on FXX is It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Not a huge loss unless you enjoyed their Simpsons marathons. FXM shows 2-10 year old movies that you can

This morning on Cracked (too lazy to fix Kinja links, I’m sure a search engine could get you there), a pair of article headlines back to back:

Tony Mendez, he actually got fired a few months before Dave left for attacking one of the writers.

Seth Meyer’s cue card guy, Wally, gets featured quite a bit on the show and even has a side business selling cue cards.

So based on the fact that on 30 Rock, Tracy, Jenna and the rest of the TGS cast were idiots who talked down to their staff without even realizing it, I have to assume that a bunch of actual SNL cast member like Fallon act the exact same way.

I haven’t yet read the Rolling Stone piece, but the stories I’ve seen blogged about sound very similar to plotlines from the Larry Sanders Show.

Letterman had a whole thing about making fun of the cue card guy. Seems like I’ve seen most talk show hosts do it at some point. It’s hard to believe many cue card people get upset about the camera time. Letterman’s guy got pretty famous.

Seinfeld has always made it clear that he doesn’t really give a shit about other people. Especially people he sees as ‘below’ him (such as someone’s who job it is to hold cue cards). The whole insincere “that’s a shame” reaction is mostly how he goes through is life. Someone getting yelled at by their boss for not

Glad to hear noted non-asshole Jerry Seinfeld chime in.

Pretty much all of the late night hosts were required to go back on the air in 2007. The only reason that isn’t being pushed now is because there are no actors to be guests on the shows either.

I clearly remember in previous work stoppages, talk show hosts (who are obscenely compensated for the ad dollars they bring in) hosts paying the writers out of pocket to continue the show.

The WGA reacted angrily to the announcement, saying: “Comedy Central forcing Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert back on the air will not give the viewers the quality shows they’ve come to expect.”

yeah ditto conan. one of the best bits was him killing time by spinning his wedding ring. also everyone’s cool beard. perhaps they were already mid-season so the writers struck but production stayed working? i don’t remember the timeline of the previous one.
