If anything I think comedians are more susceptible to becoming reactionary cranks, precisely because humor is so rooted in the here and now, and they feel all the more disoriented when culture passes them by.

I highly recommend Michael Palin’s diaries for insight into the Python dynamics and John Cleese very much comes across as the most conservative of the group even then. Still wouldn’t have expected quite such a big swing, but I’m not shocked. I’d be more shocked if Palin or Idle became that guy.

I’m very sure he cut the song because he was advised that Eric Idle probably had a leg to stand on if he decided to sue him.

I guess no person is immune from going full right-wing old man. From the supremely irreverent Monty Python to carrying the torch Fox News’ best.

Heh heh. Hard.

Ironically, there’s a story that the original negative of Citizen Kane actually was (mistakenly) sent to a reclamation plant and scrapped for silver: https://www.filmbuffonline.com/FBOLNewsreel/wordpress/2021/02/28/citizen-kane-camera-negative/

Whatever, Grampa. It isn’t the 1920s anymore, we have moving pictures now.

Not to mention that everyone going bought their tickets/booked and prepaid everything months ago so the convention itself will be just fine.

This sounds crazy, but once upon a time, Comic-Con was not a movie/television trailer delivery mechanism, but a place to meet comic creators, buy comics and nerd schwag and similar stuff.

None of that is impacted by either a writers or actors strike.

They can take Noir Alley and Eddie Mueller from my cold dead hands!!!

Interestingly, most of the figures involved pretty much grant that the “try something, toss it out, try again” method attributed to Lord made for a better movie...

I really miss the TCM Underground block they used to air late Friday nights/early Saturday mornings. I saw a lot of great movies I probably wouldn't have otherwise. Of course, I saw some I never want to see again, but the good far outweighed the bad.

All of the shows we’re seeing wiped off services were greenlit prior to Zaslav’s breaking of the seal with Batgirl. I’m curious to see how cautious everyone is in greenlighting stuff past that red line. I’d guess a lot less is in development. Hopefully, these shows can end up on ad supported platforms. Tubi and its

This may be for the best with Pink Ladies. One of the major cast members abruptly left the show before the last three episodes were filmed, forcing significant rewrites including a scene with his face awkwardly CGI’d onto someone else. This probably would have just gotten worse with Season 2.

That meeting with Spielberg and company gave Zaslav an inspiration!

They said they want to finish making S2 of prodigy then shop it around, so I’m assuming the latter.

streamers that pull this crap should at least offer the option of buying the seasons on dvd.

This feels like the old abandonware arguments that were never settled in court, so it could still go either way. And I’m definitely not just saying that because this is the opportunity for my Commander Keen/Frenchy Facciano slashfic to shine.

Zaslav made his money turning the Discovery family of channels into reality show garbage, he  killed original programming on HLN...

Genuine question - Are they removing them forever for a tax write off or licensing them out? Because Disney and Max are definitely doing the latter with the removed shows which means they can’t write them off.
