Puss is Boots is so, so much better than it needed to be or anyone expected it could be. Even with the positive reviews I still kinda went in expecting it to be Did You Know Fairy Tales Can Fart 6, and I left with it being one of my favorite movies of the year, easily the year’s best cartoon, and a new all-time great

I mentioned this a few weeks ago, but man am I delighted about how well Puss in Boots is holding up.

I think this review is an excellent example of AVClub’s difficulty in discussing SNl. And, by the way, to be honest it is a really difficult to show to discuss as in addition to being a comedic show, which is inherently probably the most subjective form of entertainment, it is also an institution that has targeted

It’s been that way for at least 20 years, so we should probably get used to that.

They felt like very short sketches this week, which was good and bad.”

No mention of the Leslie Knope/April Ludgate appearance on Weekend Update?

Man, I dunno about this. Plaza had the energy, and was totally game, but she doesn’t really have a sketch comedy background, and that came through. Having a prominent person makes a big difference to a marginalized community.  For deaf and hard of hearing youngsters, having someone signing the lyrics on a popular music tour would mean a lot.  I’m glad that Matlin uses her fame for the well being of others.

I envy her for not being able to hear Kidz Bop.

It’s still the highest-rated program ever by a wide margin, with a 60.2 rating compared to 53.3 for the conclusion to Dallas’s “Who shot JR?” cliffhanger. Few observations:

The answer, across the main series and all three extent spinoffs...

Oh, and I learned, via not checking my sources on the internet, that MASH was owned by Fox Entertainment, which was bought by Disney.

I had no idea there was a series, although I liked the book and the 1986 Harrison Ford movie based on it. That’s the problem with all these series these days on all these various streaming platforms — if even the people who would be interested in watching a series haven’t heard of it, then there’s a problem.

Not sure how surprised I should be about The Mosquito Coast, since the last episode seems to have a pretty definitive ending.

The LIV Tour used to stream the tournaments on YouTube, and nobody watched. Now they’re going to a network that most people forgot still existed.

Oh, no!

CW shows always seemed like a bunch of variations of Beverly Hills 90210 (some with costumes!) so rich golfers rationalizing away any possible ethical dilemmas doesn’t really seem like that much of a departure.
