And now that theaters are open, I can see it at my local theater’s discount day for $6.40. I don’t know how long Disney will keep this up unless they just chose to skip theaters in general.

Well, I did not like the 2017 remake at all. But that High School Musical show was surprisingly not terrible, so it’s probably up in the air how good this could be.

Oh, you know what, I think I’m washing my hair that day...

Yeah, I knew they were under the same umbrella. I just didn’t expect a Peacock show to hit normal TV so quickly (well, other than Amber Ruffin’s show).

I thought the same thing about Dean. His character isn’t as stupid as Dennis, but still sleazy.

I think the theme of the song is just universal enough (precocious only child) to transcend the NYC-based title. There’s really nothing in the song IIRC that’s really specifically about the city; I think it would work just as well if you called it “Seattle Lonely Boy” or “West Orange, NJ Lonely Boy.”

Swimming off the edge of an infinity pool is a great joke nonetheless.

Tina herself admits the 30 Rock pilot is terrible, so it might just be a first-episode thing. I’d say give it a couple more.

That’s good to hear! I enjoyed season 1 enough to want some more. “New York Lonely Boy” and “The Splingee” have been stuck in my head for weeks.

Me too. Maybe because there’s the HBO Max option. It’s also 2 and a half hours, which I can see being a bit of a turn off for some.

Well, in between those you had Glee and Crazy-Ex Girlfriend.

I was looking forward to theaters reopening and giving my local places my money, but there’s not a whole lot I actually want to see until July.

It’s on CW Seed!

I loved Robin and can’t wait for more of her in season 4, but I don’t know if I’m interested in more of her in this format.

It’s certainly not uncommon in musicals for the lead to stand around and watch while the ensemble does the singing-dancing work. But I agree, it was always so awkward having Zoey just stand and watch while stuff happened around her.

Yeah, I wasn’t sure how applicable that nickname was because outside of the song choices, there’s no lack of effort around everything else.

There was a previous article about the show on here and in the comments, someone called it “Lazy Ex-Girlfriend” because of its reliance on already-existing music.

I am seven episodes behind on this and I am determined to finish it, but every episode is like a chore and I can’t bring myself to watch another. I like Jane Leevy; I like musicals, but I have such little investment in every character and the song choices are so on-the-nose (“The Great Pretender”) or ill-fitting

Do any actual Spanish-speaking people use LatinX?

Now playing

On a similar note, I wanna share this great song written by Amanda Green about Fran’s life.
