I think they’d renew it so far ahead because the animation is a lengthy process, especially when they’re going for a hand-drawn approach to animation; pretty much all other 2D-animated shows these days are just glorified Flash.

It doesn’t really have the same charm as the 2D animation did.
Look, Frasier is probably my favorite sitcom, but I have little to no interest in any kind of revival. Just let it be its wonderful thing and be done with it.
*obligatory comment saying this wouldn’t be a thing if the Simpsons had ended ages ago*
Parents (more black than white ones) complained that he was too much of a stereotype and he was phased out. They put some of his bits on the Old School DVDs, but the recent HBO Max releases of classic episodes have cut him out (I think just his rowdy schoolroom bits).
Other than omitting one episode for the guest’s personal life, it’s also not removing anything, so not “cancelled” in the slightest.
And that would be super swell if they could!
What’s odd is that “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” remains in the Alice Cooper episode, so I don’t know why they couldn’t secure a different song from the same movie.
He just plays bass and makes goofy faces.
There’s about a dozen or so missing musical bits over the course of the series. Many episodes are 100% in tact tho, even ones with edits on the DVD boxsets (and oddly, some of those episodes that were uncut there are now cut here).
Yes.
I’m fine with that. People are definitely going into watching this for the first time with the impression that it’ll be all “Mahna Mahna” or “Being Green” and be surprised by James Coburn making a Chinese “ah-so-so” face in the middle of a number. Better than cutting anything.
Two Season 5 episodes aren’t there - the Brooke Shields episode (due to some sort of music rights issue apparently) and the Chris Langham episode (due to thinks I’d rather not repeat here; you can look it up elsewhere).
Same; she was adorable without being annoying.
Ya’ know, the one thing that pissed me off about Endgame’s time jump was that Abby Ryder Fortson won’t get to play Cassie in the next Ant-Man movie; she was great in both of them.
Hahn voiced Dr. Olivia Octavius in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and the scene where she reveals her true, sinister nature remains one of my favorite moment in an amazing (sorry, not sorry) movie
There’s a couple of Muppet Show episodes missing on Disney+ (one understandably so) and a number of music cuts (including stuff that already got cleared for the season box sets, so that’s peculiar). But damn man, they finally did it. They got pretty much the whole series out there.
It’s obviously got to be Kermit the Frog.
It’s Modern Family-ish. The talking head is MF, but the rest isn’t the hand-held style the rest of the show has. The music and all makes it feel like the other contemporary ABC sitcoms (like The Middle or The Goldbergs).
Did not expect to see the AV Club talking about Jack Benny of all things.
