Walter the Wobot or GTFO.
And here “Peterloo” had me all geared up for one of those movies-about-movies in which Peter Dinklage prepares to play Napoleon but has to contend with the usual Hollywood hijinx.

Aw, and here I was all set for a Will Harris Random Roles spectacular. Dang it.
I remember picking up Joe Bob Goes To The Drive-In when I was a tween and being absolutely mesmerized with his vignettes and the characters in his columns. The fact that as a young’un I was too scared to even think about watching some of the movies he reviewed also played a part, and his humor and common sense made…
I highly recommend you hunt down the BBC series Hustle. It’s amazing, and has that old M:I vibe you’re looking for (while being much less reliant on technology handwavium than its American cousin Leverage.
Noah Emmerich being left out of Supporting Actor? Ri-goddamn-diculous.
Street Legal has some bona fide greatness on it, not least of which is the album’s epic closer “Where Are You Tonight?”. Also love “Senor”, with its Mexi-Noir flavor and “I Think We Better Talk This Over”.
Alpha Protocol is still one of the best “worst” games ever made. It’s so ambitious, and weird, and cool, and ridiculous, and broken that I end up replaying it at least once a year. If only they’d been able to refine that combat system and fix a few design flaws in the talent mechanism, I feel like we’d be on the third…
The Hallway Of Meaningful Conversations and the Elevator Entrance Of Reconciliation are my third and fourth favorite members of Team Flash.
Definitely going down as one of my all-time favorite shows. Two things:
Couldn’t agree more, Luke. V-Commandos is one of the great unsung beer-n-pretzel strategy games. Gives me that classic Commandos PC game feel and has some meaty decision making moments. Just the right balance of strategy and luck.
I’m finding the whole season especially haunting because it’s really sort of also become a story about what happens to a marriage after the kids leave the house. Phil and Liz, without the daily routines and responsibilities of children to raise, withdraw further into themselves and become almost strangers - especially…
One of my favorites from youth as well - in addition to the moments listed here, I’m partial to everything about Dabney Coleman’s performance, the desk drawer-slamming gag, and Hanks’ yelling during the finale when Aykroyd rides the SWAT tank in, “Thank God, it’s Friday!”
Wow, as a huge fan of both I’m amazed I’ve never come across this. Thanks for sharing!
The original is one of my favorite light, stupid lowbrow comedies that really is underrated for the cast’s comedic timing and physical humor, and I say this as someone who has never watched it under the influence.
Whoa whoa whoa, there is nothing B-movie about The Thin Man series. The first three are A-level amazingly fun comedy mysteries, and the last three are D- and F- level tiredness.
“Oh, but ‘Baby Fish Mouth’ is sweeping the nation?”
WHMS blows both Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail out of the water, and it’s not even close in my opinion. Although all 3 are good, WHMS feels the least contrived by a country mile.
And I’d throw in I Accuse My Parents into that lineup, too. Those three movies have never failed to win over newbies.
