Not at all. its about preparing kids for the world in which they live. Ask black parents  about how they must prepare their children to live in a world that does not value their lives. It is no less sad but still a reality these parents must face and convey to their children.

These things are not mutually exclusive. Preparing kids for the shit world we’ve given them does not forbid us from trying to fix it as well. In the mean time they need to be ready for the shit.
