While I agree with a lot of your points, I’m not sure that I’d refer to a podcast about missing & murdered Indigenous women by an Indigenous woman as “performatively woke”.

I tried to read the book of short stories that was - it seemed - rather hastily cobbled together after the success of “Cat Person” & found it wildly uneven, with some pieces seeming like they had barely passed the first draft stage. This article goes a long way to explaining why.

This movie is a sentimental favourite but Joanna was 100% correct about the bend & snap. 

I think the issue is that most of the big blockbuster movies that come out now are all from established intellectual properties like the MCU etcetera. Aside from a couple of one-offs like San Andreas with The Rock, most lavish effects-heavy films these days tend to involve superheroes.
