If not Captain Jack, Canton Delaware would def be my next pick. He was a great character and I really like Mark Sheppard as an actor.

Downvoted for that last sentence. "Old people make-up fetish"? How else
do you want them to portray the same character at an older age? Hire a
separate older actor every time? Get a grip, dude..
IIRC, it was RTD that actually came up with idea for Captain Jack. Moffat was just the first to write him in an episode.
"Battlefield" is one of those episodes where the departure of a beloved, long-time character completely overshadows and makes up for any shortcomings in the plot, pacing, direction, etc. Was an excellent send-off for the Brigadier!
So time to start making Doctor Who wish lists for next season:
1) Clara traveling full-time in the TARDIS instead of living a normal life with the Doctor occasionally picking her up
2) Bring in a secondary companion
3) Guest appearance from Benedict Cumberbatch as an episode villain
4) Clara's departure from the show
5)…
That last part of your comment got me thinking. If the dream crabs use dreams to make people docile and sedated, why would they put themselves into those dreams and make people aware of the threat? That's pretty self-defeating.
You really consider "Time of the Doctor" worse than "The Next Doctor" or "Runaway Bride"? Chu cray-see meng.
I'm still kinda sad Eccleston didn't appear in "Day of the Doctor". I know he and Moffat had several talks about it, but they never gave an official explanation why Eccleston ultimately didn't take part.
Going by IMDB, Rose has two more episode appearances (38) than Amy (36). It's a little debatable, though, because these numbers include Rose's small background cameos during season 4 (e.g. her 2-second appearance on the TV in "Midnight") and her appearance in Bad Wolf form as The Moment's interface in "Day of the…
When you say Clara would be the longest serving companion if she's in all of Series 9, are you including the Classic Who companions? Because if we're including Classic Who, Jamie McCrimmon has everyone beat by quite a bit, lasting the entire tenure of the second Doctor plus appearing in the multi-Doctor episodes that…
I like this explanation. Touche, Christopher Harper.
The commercial cuts seemed fine to me. My cable company is Optimum. Or perhaps they just didn't seem that bad to me because I've become accustomed to the utterly atrocious commercial cuts in the Classic Who episodes on Hulu Plus.
Yeah, Moffat has definitely done a better job with the Xmas specials, though Christmas Invasion is still my favorite.
I wanted Clara to be gone too, but yes, a secondary companion would be very welcome. Even more so, I'm hoping she at least starts traveling on the Tardis full-time. No more of this living her life as normal with The Doctor picking her up on occasion crap.
Except bananas. Bananas are good. Always bring a banana to a party.
1. The Christmas Invasion
2. Last Christmas
3. The Snowmen
4. Time of the Doctor
5. A Christmas Carol
6. End of Time (I tend to forget this was a combo Christmas/New Years special)
7. Voyage of the Damned
8. The Next Doctor
9. The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe
10. Runaway Bride (my least favorite episode of all NuWho)
Upvoted for the last sentence. I too desperately want a primary companion not from present-day England.
I don't remember the exact phrasing, but it was made clear that Orson was related to Clara. The Tardis "extrapolated her whole timeline" - or something like that - through the telepathic circuit and arrived at one of her descendants. So unless she winds up boning another member of the Pink family, his existence is a…
Yes! I immediately thought of the Wallmasters from Zelda too!!! I wouldn't be terribly surprised if that was an intentional Zelda reference.
Yeah, that was friggin hilarious. Also his initial explanation to Clara that he and the elves were just normal "Roof People" doing normal roof things was hilarious.
