I don’t actually need an off-roader; the cars I drive hardly see lawn, let alone dirt. I also totally don’t have that kind of money, but this is all beside the point.

I constantly see the Malibu campaign, and it’s utter hogwash. I drove one (that was a friend/coworker’s mom’s car) and it immediately got filed into the drawer derogatorily labeled, “Camry”.
Assuming you can hold a decent example, get them an Acura Integra. Sell it as a nice Honda (practical!) and let the fantastic driving experience just slowly seep into them over time.
So, a day late to the party; how typical...
I’m an unabashed Acura fan, though of course I’m much more fond of its old-school era than recent blander years. When I saw it, I was instantly excited! Acura actually stepping out and doing something bold and different and when I look at the car, eh. I liked the overall ideas of it, just not the actual car.
In defensive of hateful minivans, I’ve enjoyed driving some good examples more than I have many actual cars.
My Camry-bashing happened entirely independent of auto journalism, the Internet...or people at large.
