An egg shaped rear end on it’s own is poor for aerodynamics yes, but the Veyron also has a rear spoiler that converts to an airfoil at high speed which totally changes the aerodynamics. Again look at Bonneville cars. Round butts with airfoils.

Those rims are probably warped now with that much heat. It was enough to anneal the nearby springs as you can see they are fully compressed. That’s pretty damn hot.
