unless you LIKE the romanticized original, in which case it will REALLLY upset you.  I liked it but DO NOT go on the fan pages and bring this up

you can say the same about Che Guevara or Chairman Mao, now appearing on hipster t-shirts near you

I would adore that. Or Hemingway’s studied macho pose, Scott Fitsgerald’s preppy hedonism. Clothing and deliberate presentation are art as well as the written word or the painting.  And those who engaged in both should be acknowledged for both without criticism

you covered every point I had far more eloquently than I could have. Brava!

why do you assume we don’t hate french canadian/quebecois on their own merit?

It would be useful if somebody explained to Phil that there was a 9-month-old baby in the other car, if if he kills the next one, it could ruin his day.

Christina Hendricks has spoken at length about designers being unwilling to dress her

There was a ‘designer’ contestant on Project Runway a few years ago who was terrified because he had to design for a woman with breasts. He couldn’t even say the word

I would imagine that having your dress walk the runway at the Grammy’s would be priceless PR, but maybe, like being unwilling to make a dress over a size 4, they are too stupid to realize that

Thank you for discussing with your students that there ARE industry standards for work.  It can be a suit and tie or these days, a hip t-shirt and jeans.  It’s fine to break rules as long as you know what they are and chose to break them.  Not knowing just makes you look like a rube, in any industry.

you are adorably naive. You chose a look, whether or not you are aware it. The hipster with the beard and horn rimmed glasses, the Orthodox Jew, the tech industry guys who wear hoodies and a t-shirt from the latest release or fav movie, the person who waits with baited breath for the Vogue September edition to come

except that this story came from a lot of different women in different circumstances. Not just one comedy festival

Sarah has been successful for a while now so she probably felt more comfortable saying no because he couldn’t hurt her career. A young unknown comic, not so much. That’s the power imbalance

I saw Spartacus at a booksigning 30 years ago.  He was the crypt keeper then.  There was literally nobody there to get a book signed.

again, you like so many men (whether you are one or not) love to depend on phrases like ‘legal definition’ or ‘why didn’t she report it’ without acknowledging that the current court system is not set up to believe women or punish men.

I can’t control club owners, but I can protest and have my own opinion

except that, as has been proved and documented to death - there is no fair ‘formal manner - like court’ that currently works for women. Louie, and most abusers, are smart enough to do these things in settings where there are not witnesses.  Why? because they know damned well what they do is unacceptable, so they do it

put it away Louie, we’ve all seen it and we aren’t impressed

you got ‘most people’ out of one person. You need some experience in statistical analysis

sorry, comedy, and intellect cannot exist by pandering to the lowest common denominator. And that has nothing to do with being ‘elitist’ except intellectually. Many comedians come from very diverse and difficult backgrounds. Few have Ivy League degrees and trust funds
